We went on Sunday about 5pm. BBQ was average at best. We got brisket. Mac N Cheese was terrible. Posting a pic of it here. It had definitely been sitting for many hours if not longer. Kids didn't touch it and they love mac n cheese. Very disappointing visit. I'd suggest you try a different restaurant.
Love eating here . feels like three old days
Really good BBQ, litte pricey!
All Ways good and clean.
Good place to get some good BBQ and sides. Only complaint was that the macaroni was really watery but everything else was awesome. The pitmastersbreally know their stuff. Enjoy!
2 stars because I ate the darn meat. Our brisket was all shredded like barbacoa. Overly priced. Cashier girl with attitude. Also I've had better sausages from H-E-B. First and last time going here.
Best JalapeΓ±o and cheese sausage around.
Confusion for ordering first time
An honorable business! We had an order sent to us 800 miles away, and it arrived in bad shape, likely caused by a forklift en route. I sent them a note and in two days a new order showed up! And btw, the bbq was very good!
Not my favorite Q on the planet but as always most respectable consistent flavors , every once in awhile I get that itch for there German style sides and they never let me down ! Tried the new pork belly burnt ends π yummy ! Live the smokey atmosphere , definitely a must try on your Q bucket list !
Great food, great place to eat. Smoked brisket and smoked turkey, are the best in Texas.

Great BBQ..
Not going to say they are the best bbq because I haven't been everywhere yet but right now it the best I've had. (Get me a couple of beef ribs from Kreuz Market!) will be on my headstone
Bbq was great worth the trip.
Awesome! Best BBQ in Lockhart,Tx.
like no other BBQ on the planet!!
Just as good as Smitty's, Black's, Southside in Elgin, and I wouldn't put Meyer's in this running list but I will state that Meyer's will not result in dissappointment. I rate 1st Black's, 2nd Smitty's, 3rd Kreuz, 4th Southside, and 5th Meyer's.
I purchase five boxes couldn't get any help to take them to the car had to take two at a time the lady said that's how I need to do it been going there many years have always had help taking things to the car I was very unhappy with that
Still great Bbq
This is hands down THE best bbq you can sink your teeth into.Β Here are some of my personal favorite cuts and little tips to keep in mind. If youβre here looking for saucy bbq, youβre at the wrong place. There isnβt a single thing on the menu that βneeds or benefits" from the addition of sauce, and thatβs a different style of bqq altogether. The brisket is phenomenal and an absolute must.Β It's perfectly smoked, flavorful, and comes in a second cut called clod or shoulder clod with a very distinct difference in texture and fat content. Actual toe-curling goodness. The pork ribs are pure ecstasy.Β Smoky salty bliss.Β You can slide the meat off the bone with minimal effort.Β In fact, in the mere act of passing one of these ribs over to my husband caused the meat to fall off the bone. The smoked turkey is very moist, and tasty.Β You can get it sliced by the lb or order an entire bird for your gatherings.Β Same goes for the chicken. The smoked ham is delectable.Β I brought my leftovers home and made the best ham and egg tacos of my life. Their tasty sausage comes in original, jalapeΓ±o, and dried varieties. Iβve never had room for anything else, but someday I hope to try their beef ribs. Please do yourself a favor and give this place a try.Β Thereβs a lot of care and tradition that goes into everything they make.
Good sausage π
Simply the best in my book, at least compare them to your best. Theory is the meats stand on their own as they are presented. No Sauce! Thatβs the style. You can get sauce-style elsewhere (including the grocery store, since you have no taste!) other places have dry rub recipes. The beef ribs are HUGE! Pork is fall of the bone. Even their turkey is juicy! And smelling like a smokehouse when you leave is a free gift. If they could bottle it into a perfume Iβd wear it! Lol. This place is just always awesome!
I paid $26 for a pound of of prime rib and about 6oz were a solid block of fat (see picture). I understand a particular cut being greasy, and even having some fat, but not a third of the weight. I found it to be an abuse to say the least. Other than that, the brisket was very tender and juicy, and both the ribs and the sausage were excellent.
This was a disappointing bbq experience. We read online that this was one of the great bbq restaurants in Texas. We did come on a Tuesday an hour before closing, so it might have been a mid-week slump. The service was brusque. The brisket was delicious, undeniably. My father said it was simply seasoned, just salt and pepper. He lives in TX and eats bbq like tiger shark (Iβm sure heβs eaten license plates and buoys and things without noticing it), so I accept his opinion. I enjoyed it, but I go for the bark. Not much smokiness, despite the robust smoke ring. The sausage was disappointing, however. It had a quarter inch smoke ring but there wasnβt much flavor. To me, it tasted like a meatball. The beans werenβt terribly flavorful either. It wasnβt the best, given the historic nature of the establishment, but maybe thatβs high expectations. Iβd love to go back and give it a second chance!
Food is always delicious.
My son and I drove over 3 hours to stay the night and do a BBQ challenge over 2 days. We tried Kreuz first. Second we tried Black's. Then today we tried Smitty's. We were both surprised that Kreuz's BBQ was a very close second. We also both agreed on the other 2. Black's BBQ is defiantly our favorite. We had Brisket, Turkey and Sausage at each. Black's was a solid first place. As far as 3rd place Smitty's, we will not go back. Their brisket was dry and tough. They do not take cards at all you must go get cash. They would give us no fork and no ice water. We were very disappointed as we both went in thinking they would be first. Black's BBQ was great, but so is Kreuz!
Soooooo good!
Omg the brisket and sausage and sides were amazing long distance to come it worth it
One of the best BBQ places in central Texas. They've been BBQ'n for ages. Your meat is served on butcher paper. Their BBQ is excellent. Walk up to pit counter and tell them what you want. The meat is Removed from pit and cut / weighed while you watch. You get bread or crackers with your meat order. NOTE: Cash only at the counter, no credit cards. So take cash with you. Get your other condiments and drinks inside the eating area. Go by a give them a try, you'll leave wit a smile on your face. Enjoy!
I was really craving for prime rib. In my opinion, they have no match. But, I had to do with beef ribs and brisket since they were out at lunch time. I assume dinner is a no prime rib craving time either. My order also included pork, jalapeΓ±o and regular sausages. Except for the pork, all was beautifully cooked and moist. The pork had a neat pink ring but extremely dry. The coleslaw and beans were average, the salad was barely prepared, nothing that can be paired with the meats- in comparison. Overall very nice and clean venue. One thing that caught my attention was the very large crowd they were hosting at the entrance of the establishment. The area closest to the fire and registers had at least 30 guests in a small area. I can't say if the county is ok with that but I run past it to the main section. That second area had spacing and seating Covid-like arranged. I drove 30 minutes for my prime rib cut, maybe next time.
Great BBQ horrible staff/service. Asked for brisket lean side, get a snicker and fatty side of brisket. When I said I asked for lean side again get a laugh. When paying hard earned $$$$ I expect to get what I ask for.
12/16/2020 Update Open for dine in and to go. Great BBQ as always. The brisket and jalapeΓ±o sausage were especially good. We love coming here. Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere is great. Thanks!
Awesome BBQ. Ribs falling off the bone, juicy brisket. Delicious sides greenbeans and creamy butter corn. Save your calories so you can come here. Lol
There's nothing like BBQ in Texas! When you want it done right, Kreuz is the place! Since 1900!
Favorite place for bbq
Excellent food, Excellent service!
Definitely worth a stop when in Lockhart, yummy!
Kreuz is a destination restaurant. Bring a cooler and take a bunch home!
Excellent BBQ
Best BBQ in Texas!
Great BBQ. Excellent service. Nice, fun, exciting people.
The food is always good, and the sevice is fair. But I come for the food not anything else. ππ
Reliable. Always!!
The best
True Texas Style barbeque. The kind that doesn't need barbeque sauce, soooo good!
The sausage was good and greasy.
One of the many Lockhart BBQ joints that you have to be try to check the list. They offer a few more sides than their age old rival off the square. However, who comes for the sides? There was a nice selection of meats. The brisket had a nice flavor however could use a little more moisture. It comes with bread or crackers your choice. The jalapeno cheddar sausage was a hit be sure and try it. A little on the pricey side for what you get.
Shoulder clod, MUST have!
Lockhart, BBQ Capital of TEXAS. KREUZ MARKET is some of the best BBQ you will ever eat ANYWHERE, HANDS DOWN!!
